Guess that’s one reason

rhapsody February 25th, 2007

they called it the “Roaring Twenties”.

Back then, G. K. Chesterton wrote of

the moral decline to come. Of course,

immorality has always existed, but it

has never actually been as socially

acceptable as it is now…

Well, maybe in ancient Babylon.

From Chesterton and Friends.

This is off-topic, but can you recommend a place to buy small figurines of the saints that my Mom can put outdoors in her garden?

    Hi Thomas,

I would be happy to search for you, but my computer is so slow I’m going to just recommend some places for you to check – if they aren’t linked to the right here, then go to my other blog – I’m not sure that they all have what you’re looking for, but if they do, then you can comparison shop. :)

EWTN’s religious catalog, CatholicPosters, Trinity Stores, Leaflet Missal Company, Sisters of Carmel, Autom, St. John Fisher Catholic Bookstore, Bridge Building Images, Catholic Shopper, the Catholic Store

If you find some place you like better, let me know…

    thanks!

Thanks, I’ll give those a try!

What makes it hard is that since they’ll be outside, they almost have to be resin. Most of these are made for indoor use, and won’t stand up to the Texas heat.

I believe EWTN has a nice selection, offering different sizes & finishes. They will offer the same statue either hand-painted, or in white or granite – the painted ones being more expensive, & (I don’t remember exactly) I think the white ones are the least expensive. It really is a matter of preference (as well as finance). I like small granite statues – preferring the larger ones to be hand-painted as they’re more life-size, although I haven’t got any of those. I’m not sure if they’re resin, but it will state the material, or you can always call & ask…
